Batik Painting - Fish Totem
The fish totem holds great significance as a decorative pattern among the ethnic minorities in Guizhou.
The Shui people, an ethnic group primarily residing in Guizhou Province, hold the fish in the highest regard as a symbol of their ancestors. This reverence for fish is reflected in their customs, where fish are often offered as sacrifices in significant ceremonies, such as ancestor worship, mourning, and weddings.
This remarkable series of batiks has been meticulously crafted by Shui artisans. They've employed artistic techniques that include deformation, exaggeration, and abstraction to vividly depict the fish totem culture of their nation.
Please take note that there are 3 styles of batik paintings, each painting is approximately 37cm*37cm in size, and these artworks are not sold with frames.
